This is the story of the Luigi Racing Ford Sierra RS500 group A (# LR 1388) that raced in the 1988 European Touring Car Championship. Thierry Tassin, Jean-Claude Andruet, Romain Feilter and Georges Cremer campaigned it at the Nurburgring, Dijon, Spa 24 hours, Zolder EG Trophy and the Silverstone Tourist Trophy. The Zolder round would be the (only) highlight of the season with an unexpected P3 thanks to rainy weather and an inspired drive by Tassin. For the 1989 season, LR1388 took part in the Portuguese touring car championship with longtime Luigi customer, Christian Melville before Luigi sold the car to an Italian collector in April 1991.

It’s probably the one RS500 that had been raced in period in most countries over the globe. It has raced in the FIA European Touring Car Championship (RAC Tourist Trophy, Nogaro), the FIA Asia-Pacific Touring Car Championship (Bathurst 1000, Wellington 500, Pukekohe 500), the Japanese Touring Car Championship (Fuji Inter-Tec 500), the Swedish Touring Car Championship, the Kemora 500 in Finland, the Guia Race in Macau, etc.
